News Release
“Cleveland Local Producer/ Director gives voice of clarity to Low Power FM radio controversy.” On February, 27th, 2005 The Hallmark channel will broadcast “LPFM: The People’s Choice” as part of a Sunday midday program called “World of Faith and Values” 12 PM E/T and P/T. Terry Peterson of Verite Productions co-wrote, directed and produced a documentary which chronicles how Low Power FM radio is bringing diverse people closer together and giving new life to declining communities, new strength to neighborhoods and new voice to the voiceless. LPFM: The People’s choice is an extraordinary story of how a commercial free, low power radio service has been able to withstand the rigors of Capitol Hill and special interest attacks. Low Power FM radio stations are most popular in rural and smaller communities, however new legislation could be bringing these stations into medium and large radio markets. The Office of Communication of the United Church of Christ, Inc commissioned the project. The hour-long program started to air on NBC affiliates around the country already. With some great reviews; Mike Shay of WRYR wrote, "Terry has captured the energy, independence, creativity and renaissance of community radio in this program.”. Such stations that have already aired the program are, KSNT TV27 in Topeka, KS, WMGT TV41 in Macon, GA, KCEN TV6 in Waco, TX, Dallas, Sioux City, IA, Lima, Ohio and Lubbock, TX.
